Swissport – Toronto Members: Bargaining Update for April 25, 2023

April 25, 2023 at 2:30 PM
The union and the company opened bargaining on March 02, 2023, with an exchange of non-monetary proposals. Our proposals included editorial changes and regulatory changes. On March 3rd, 2023 Unifor filed for conciliation.

We had scheduled dates in March, (from March 9 to 10, and 13th), but the company declined to proceed as we waited for the appointment of a conciliator We were scheduled to bargain on April 19 and 20th, and on April 17, we were notified by the conciliator that Swissport was unable to meet on the above dates. Although this is a frustrating setback, we could not change the circumstances. We have been assured that the company will be available for our next bargaining dates on May 4th and 5th.  We have used this downtime to our advantage and have reviewed and completed our comprehensive non-monetary proposals and our monetary proposals.

Our success at bargaining is a testament to the strength and solidarity of our union. By standing together and speaking with one voice, we will show that we are a force to be reckoned with. We must remain united and focused in our efforts to secure the rights and protections that we deserve.

We will keep you informed of any further developments as they occur. In the meantime, we encourage all members to continue to support our bargaining team and to stand together in solidarity.
