Two more Small Base locations transitioning to Air Canada
Two more Small Base locations transitioning to Air Canada
April 8, 2024 at 10:46 AM
Since the Unifor Jazz and Air Canada Bargaining Committees have finalized the master transition agreement on the Small Bases with Air Canada and Jazz on March 31, 2023, only the Québec City base had met the criteria of the arbitration award to switch its operation to an Air Canada Base as of June 1st 2023.
Recently, Moncton and Charlottetown have also crossed the threshold in order to qualify and become an Air Canada operated base. The transition will be competed as of June 1
st
2024. Therefore, all Unifor members employed by Air Canada that were displaced when the previous decision was made to change those locations to a Jazz base will be given the option to return to their original city in the coming weeks. All Unifor members currently working for Jazz in those locations will be given the opportunity to continue to work in their respective city as Air Canada employees.
Meetings will be held in the near future with Unifor Representatives in order to answer questions and to advise members of their options during these transitions. We realize that these changes will generate a lot of questions and we will work to make them as smooth as possible.
In solidarity,
The Unifor Jazz and Air Canada Bargaining Committees
