Air Canada Bargaining Update: ‘Determined to Make Progress’

April 8, 2011 at 6:42 PM

On April 5th, Air Canada Bargaining resumed as Conciliator Carol A. Wall joined the bargaining process.

During the past week, Conciliator Wall has met with both sides to understand the issues and has participated in all ongoing talks between the union and the company.

During the last 5 weeks of bargaining, your committee has been addressing non-monetary issues that have come from your surveys and from proposal meetings. Listed below are some of the topics that have resulted in in-depth and lengthy discussions.

  • Full-time & Part-time Scheduling
  • Letter of Transfers
  • Reciprocals
  • Disciplinary and Appeal Procedures
  • Human Rights
  • Monitoring and Measurement
  • Concierge and Leads

Only by resolving the non-monetary issues, can we move forward to discuss the membership’s monetary demands.

As previously communicated, a leadership meeting will take place this upcoming Tuesday, April 12th for your elected District Officers. At this meeting, CAW National President Ken Lewenza will address the leadership and they will be provided with detailed information pertaining to the strike vote process, the Company’s pension proposal and a further update on bargaining.

We have had tremendous feedback on last week’s bulletin outlining the Company’s demands and a strong sense of unity has brought our membership closer together from coast to coast.

Only together can we effect change and united together our voices will be heard!

In Solidarity,

Your Air Canada Bargaining Committee,

Paul Janssen, Bargaining Chairperson, Western Region
Dave Hoskins, Pacific Region
Vicky Xekominos, Central Region
Marcel Rondeau, Eastern Region
Christa Chaplin, Atlantic Region
Jamie Ross, Local 2002 President
