Air Canada: Stand up and be counted!

Air Canada: Stand up and be counted!

April 29, 2011 at 3:11 PM

Your Air Canada bargaining committee resumed talks with the company on April 25, 2011. To date, we have continued to deal with non-monetary issues. Progress remains slow, however your bargaining committee is standing strong in its resolve to get the remaining issues addressed before proceeding with monetary proposals.

We are now preparing for a country-wide strike vote that will take place from May 13 to May 19. Please check the attached schedule for your district’s location, date and time.

We cannot stress enough the importance of every member getting out and casting a ‘YES’ on your strike ballot. Each and every member has the power to stand up to the company and exercise our strength in numbers.

When we speak with one voice, the company listens.

Across Canada, hundreds of Local 2002 members and labour supporters are taking their fight for a fair deal public. On Apr 21, in Montreal and again in Calgary on April 28, CAW members and labour activists rallied, wearing yellow ‘fair deal’ bracelets, carrying picket signs and waiving CAW flags. Watch for your opportunity to send Air Canada a message that this is our time for a fair deal, as rallies continue across the country.

"This is about corporate greed," commented Local 2002 President Jamie Ross. "In the past, we've been patient; we've been polite, now it's time to get political."

It’s time to stand up and be counted!
