On September 6, 2023, Unifor Local 2002 and the GSE members employed by ATS in Calgary were advised of the loss of the WestJet contract effective November 7, 2023. This is undoubtedly a challenging situation. However, it is reassuring to know that ATS is actively seeking other contracts to sustain and grow the GSE operation at Calgary.
It's also encouraging to hear that the Company does not plan to downsize its workforce while pursuing these opportunities, and that they are committed to maintaining business as usual.
The immediate response provided by ATS to the unacceptable intrusion that occurred in the shop on September 6th, shows the importance of maintaining a strong show of solidarity and a respectful work environment for all of our members.
We appreciate the assurance that this collective agreement provides and remains intact, providing job security for our members. We will continue to provide you with ongoing updates and support during this time of change.
