In a settlement award dated April 20, 2011, Canadian North non-management warehouse workers in Yellowknife and Iqaluit were to be moved into the Unifor bargaining unit. However, during the recent round of 2013 negotiations, the union became aware that these members were not transferred into the bargaining unit. Consequently, the union advised the employer that they must adhere to the 2011 settlement by moving these members into our union forthwith.
Based on the aforementioned, the union will be holding a general membership meeting on October 28, 2013 (details below) for all Yellowknife members. We will address any concerns of our warehouse members regarding their move into our union as well as any other general membership issues.
We encourage all Yellowknife members in the airport, cargo and the warehouse food mill to attend this very important meeting. You may prefer to email your union representatives in advance outlining any questions you wish to be addressed at the meeting.
