WEBB District 370 reaches tentative agreement

WEBB District 370 reaches tentative agreement

October 14, 2011 at 9:09 PM

On October 14, 2011, a tentative agreement was reached between CAW Local 2002 District 370 and WEBB. Ratification Meetings have been scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, 2011.

The last two months of negotiations has been anything but traditional bargaining for the CAW. The potential of losing the contract with the GTAA presented unique and challenging circumstances for the WEBB Bargaining Committee, Chuck Doyle, Derek Day, Mike Dyl, National Staff Representative Leslie Dias and Executive Assistant Ashley Watkins.

Negotiations began with the potential of a three year extension to WEBB’s contract with the GTAA. (The current contract expires on March 31, 2012.) It was announced on September 29, that the GTAA had denied the extension. The focus of bargaining then turned to achieving the best possible contract for the membership while not endangering WEBB’s competitive position to successfully bid for the GTAA contract.

The bargaining committee was able to achieve most of the membership’s top issues, including maintaining wages, benefits and pensions, enhancing members’ shift trade abilities and improving management/employee relationships.

The following are partial highlights of the tentative agreement. The full memorandum of settlement that will be distributed at the ratification meetings.

• Incentive Plan Agreement
• Voluntary Reduced Work Week
• Enhanced Shift Trade Language
• Comprehensive Discrimination / Harassment Relationship Language
• Labour Management Committee
• Additional District Chair time off
• New Bereavement Leave Language
• Additional Uniform Pieces
• New Progressive Discipline Language
• Streamlined Grievance language

We strongly encourage all District 370 members to attend one of the following meetings in order to hear details of the tentative agreement.  As per Local 2002 Bylaws, voting will only take place during the scheduled meeting times.
