Unifor wants fair deal for members at Envoy Air

The Unifor District 341 bargaining committee met with company officials representing Envoy Air Inc., on August 20, 2014 to review monetary proposals.

Progress was made on a variety of issues and in the afternoon, the company presented its counter proposals to the union.  The union called the company’s offer "offensive” and made it clear that these hard working employees deserve a fair deal in this round of bargaining.

"This is a physically demanding, tightly scheduled operation with employees running from flight to flight in extreme weather conditions,” said Local 2002 Executive Assistant Ashley Watkins.  "We will use every option we have in order for these workers to be fairly compensated.”

Tentative dates in September and October have been set to reconvene negotiations.  The bargaining committee will continue to keep the membership informed and thanks them for their continued support.

"In the long run, companies only make progress when their workers do.” said Local 2002 President Cheryl Robinson. "Let’s hope Envoy Air has the vision to recognize the hard work of their employees.”

The collective agreement for 92 members at Envoy Air Inc. expired on March 17, 2014. Unifor members are responsible for all ramp functions, baggage operations, grooming and cabin services for all Envoy Air and American Airline aircraft operating in and out of Pearson International Airport in Toronto.
