We are better for having had Trey Mohammed in our lives

We are better for having had Trey Mohammed in our lives

On Sunday many of us awoke to the news that there had been a triple shooting in the early morning hours at a downtown Toronto restaurant. Two females were injured and one male pronounced dead at the scene.

News reports said that Tariq Mohammed was Toronto's 50th homicide victim.

The reports didn’t convey that Tariq (Trey) Mohammed was hardworking, creative, exuberant, much-loved and well-respected; nor could they begin to describe how much he will be missed every single day by family, friends and co-workers.

"We are devastated to hear of the senseless murder of our brother Trey, taken from us by gun violence,” said President Cheryl Robinson. "Trey’s 10,000 brothers and sisters at Local 2002 offer condolences to his family and to all those who have enjoyed the positive experience of working alongside him.”

Trey was a proud Unifor member at both ATS and later Envoy. He liked to stay informed and involved and regularly attended membership meetings. Over the years he gained expertise in airport operations and ramp functions and was recently promoted to lead agent at Envoy. He celebrated his fifth anniversary with the company on November 12, 2014.

"Trey was very honest – cool with everyone. There was not a person who didn't like him,” said District Chairperson Suman Alagarasa. "Employees always wanted to work with him; they felt he protected them and they held him in high regard.”

Trey, you will be missed.
