 UNIFOR 2002

Last week, your GTAA Bargaining Committee met at the Unifor national office in Mississauga. The purpose of this meeting was to prepare and develop a bargaining survey for the membership, as you are aware the GTAA collective agreement expires in July 2019. Following these meetings, on January 21, 2019, the GTAA Bargaining Committee held a General Membership meeting for its membership at the Sheraton Hotel in Terminal 3.

SKILLED TRADES AND GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING – HIGHLIGHTS

In attendance at this meeting were the GTAA Bargaining Committee, district vice chair-persons, along with Unifor and Local 2002 representatives.

The meeting was chaired by the GTAA District Chairperson – Antonios Kourterdis and in his opening remarks, he stated, "2019 is the time to negotiate a new collective agreement for District 333. We have clear priorities for these negotiations, and we are ready and eager to begin bargaining with the Company. We plan to demonstrate our collective strength so we can make improved gains at the table and set a future course for our members".

Antonios provided an overview of his District Chairman’s report, followed by, the Union and Bargaining Committee team reporting on their discussions that were debated on a variety of agenda issues affecting the membership. Within the Bargaining Committee buckets, the issues remain the same - members are being asked by the Company to do more with less. Each Bargaining representative then presented their bargaining committee report for their departments.

GTAA BARGAINING SURVEY INSTRUCTIONS

It's time to negotiate our contract. In order to give the Bargaining Committee a clear understanding of the membership priorities, a survey has been created, which we urge all GTAA members to complete. As Unifor members you are an important part of the bargaining process and your input is critical in determining and prioritizing the bargaining agenda. The survey is now open to the members and the closing date for members to complete the online and/or paper copy survey is Friday, February 8, 2019, at 17:00.

TAKING THE SURVEY

  • Please click here to begin the online survey

  • For those members who do not want to do the survey online, we will have a paper copy of this survey available in your Union office. Members are asked to submit all completed surveys to their elected Bargaining Committee representative on/or before February 8, 2019.

  • This process will provide every member with the opportunity to share what they’d like to see in the new agreement or suggest improvements to what currently exists.

  • Bargaining Proposal meetings are scheduled for February 20 and 21, 2019. Once the survey closes on February 8, 2019, your Bargaining Committee team will review the results of the bargaining surveys completed by the members and will put forward your proposals to the Company at the negotiating table. Times and locations of the bargaining proposal meetings will be provided in the coming weeks.
