GTAA: Notice for Skilled Trades Members

Skilled Trades Committee

The Memorandum of Understanding - Appendix "I" - in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the GTAA and the CAW requires the establishment of a Skilled Trades Committee. The committee will consist of two representatives from Management responsible for the Skilled Trades and two GTAA Skilled Trades Employees, appointed by the union, one of which will be the Skilled Trades Representative.

The committee will meet monthly and discuss issues affecting the Skilled Trades such as:

  • Planned and Predictive Maintenance.

  • Technology based solutions.

  • Upgrading core competencies and training.

  • Utilization of the Skilled Trades.

  • Communication of future work or installations.

  • Outsourcing and subcontracting activities.

  • Apprenticeship opportunities based on future attrition, to maintain a viable succession plan.

Any interested Skilled Trades Members should submit their request in writing either by dropping it off at the union office in Terminal 1 located at EBS090 or e-mail your submission to any of the following: [email protected][email protected][email protected].

  

 * All submissions must be received by November 9, 2009 *

  

Once all submissions are received the union will review them and appoint the new committee member. The member will be notified and the appointees name will be posted.

  

Skilled Trades Cards

Any Skilled Trades Members who are interested in receiving a Skilled Trades Card please contact the Union office at (416) 776-3103 or e-mail [email protected]. The requirements for a Skilled Trades Card are outlined in the Memorandum of Settlement in Appendix "E", which was handed out to the membership at the July ratification meetings. If you are not in possession of one, there are extra copies in the Terminal 1 office located at EBS090.
