March 7, 2024 at 12:30 PM

Dear Unifor Local 2002 Garda World Members,
As the transition from Garda World to Paladin Security approaches, we want to provide you with some answers to some questions we have been receiving over the past few weeks.

Accrued Vacation Time: Garda World has advised that they will be issuing payouts for all accrued vacation time before the end of March 2024. Paladin will honour booked vacation past April 1, just remember you have been paid for this time in advance.

RRSP Implementation: Starting April 1st, 2024, RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan) benefits will be in place. Paladin will provide further details regarding RRSP implementation in due course.

Garda Termination of Employment Letter: We strongly advise members not to sign any termination letters from Garda World.

Severance Pay: Please note that Section 189 1.1 of the Federal Labour Code is applicable in this transition. This section ensures employment continuity, meaning no severance will be paid due to contract re-tendering.

Seniority Date: Paladin has committed to maintaining the seniority that you have accrued over the course of your employment as a Screening Officer.

Collective Agreement: During the orientation sessions, Paladin reassured that they will honour the current collective agreement. Remember, the collective agreement always supersedes company policy.

Medical and Personal Days: Your medical and personal days will not be reset when Paladin assumes control on April 1st, 2024.

Attendance and Discipline: Garda, attendance and discipline records will not be carried over to Paladin.

Health and Welfare Plan: Paladin has committed to maintain the Health and Welfare as outlined in the Collective Agreement.

Conflict Resolution: During the orientation sessions, Paladin committed to signing an agreement ensuring that, in case of conflict, the collective agreement will prevail.

It's essential to remember that to maintain representation by Local 2002, you must be employed by Paladin.

Our National Representative, Vice President, and elected Vice Chairs have diligently attended all Paladin orientation meetings to advocate for your rights. We continue to engage with both Garda and Paladin and will address any concerns on your behalf to ensure your rights are protected.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

In Solidarity,
Jan Sills, Unifor Local 2002 Vice President – Western Region
Tammy Moore, Unifor Local 2002 President
