In a ripple effect to Air Canada's statement on
June 17th, 2008, that they will be reducing their overall flight capacity and
reducing staff, Air Canada Jazz has announced plans to eliminate all flights
from Hamilton to Ottawa and Montreal.
There are 11 customer service agents that will be
affected. As per their collective agreement they can bump into other locations.
A meeting to discuss all available options for employees has been tentatively
scheduled for June 24th, 2008. Full details will be announced upon confirmation.
No other decisions involving Jazz services have
been announced at this time. However, as Air Canada is Jazz's primary customer,
the CAW has raised concerns over the full impact that Air Canada's capacity cuts
will have on the Jazz membership.
We are committed to keeping you informed and will
communicate additional information as soon as it becomes available.
In solidarity,
