Jazz Technical Services: Notice Regarding Early Bargaining

Jazz Technical Services: Notice Regarding Early Bargaining

May 9, 2008 at 12:00 AM

Last week the CAW met with Jazz Senior Management to discuss the possibility of opening the Collective Bargaining Process earlier than scheduled.

The Company stated that it was clearly not prepared to begin the Bargaining Process early, and that formal discussions would begin at a later date.

The Union told the employer that it does not believe that it provides service that if withdrawn would “create an immediate and serious danger to the safety or health of the public” and therefore a maintenance of activity agreement (MOA) is not required. The Union also indicated that if the employer does not agree with this analysis, it [the CAW] is prepared to have immediate discussions regarding the subject to ensure that the issue is fully covered before the Collective Bargaining Process begins.
