CAW opens bargaining with Jazz Technical Services

May 7, 2012 at 10:00 PM

The CAW bargaining committee along with Ron Smith – CAW’s National Director of Transportation, Bob Orr – Assistant to the National President and Darryl Draeger – Local 2002 Executive Assistant met with Company officials today to formally begin contract negotiations.

"Over 250 sub-articles may be considered during this round of negotiations," said Local 2002's Darryl Draeger. "However, our focus will be on changing the specific articles as requested by our members."

As a result of subsequent proposal meetings and union surveys requesting membership input, the bargaining committee have tabulated this data and determined the most critical and important demands as outlined by the members.

"We are not looking to rewrite the whole contract, as overall, it is not broken," said Orr. "We intend to keep our members up-to-date and intend to reach a new collective agreement."

"Our Committee is determined in making significant improvements to this contract," said Local 2002 President Jamie Ross. "Technical services scope work covered within this agreement is an integral part of maintaining a strong and viable company. With the members’ support, we will reach a fair and equitable deal with Jazz."

Following today’s talks, the Union and Company have scheduled additional bargaining dates through until the end of June.

As always, we will continue to update you as the bargaining process continues.
