Jazz Tech: Executive Board Report (16 APR 10)

Since the last Exec Board I have held a Regional meeting that was well received and the minutes have been posted and sent to all the VPs.

Our members have been asking for the new bargained copy of the Collective Agreement. The hold up was the LOU’s. It was decided by the Bargaining Committee that they would have discussions with Jazz on whether the LOUs were relevant or not, but at the end of the day they will be posted on the CAW Website for all to access. The Contract is going through its finalization review and approval before printing without the LOU’s.

Bargaining Elections have started and should be finished and posted by April 28th.

Thomas Cook Travel and Jazz have signed a tentative deal that will see Jazz operate at least 6 Boeing 757 aircraft on their behalf. Jazz would be supplying flight crews and maintenance. There are a lot of unanswered questions, but the company sees this as vital to growth at Jazz. The hope is to hire some of the Skyservice endorsed mechanics while racing to train our personnel. To make this more of a challenge, Jazz is still going ahead with the purchase of the Bombardier Q-400s which would be a second new aircraft type that will also require extensive training of our members.
