Jazz Technical Services: Bargaining Committee geared for further discussions

August 13, 2008 at 12:00 AM

On August 6th and 7th 2008 the Bargaining Committee met in Vancouver to discuss the Bargaining Surveys submitted by the membership. The process was one of comparing the surveys from across the system and prioritizing them and ultimately putting together the list of demands to present to the Company. The Bargaining Committee will reconvene in early September to finalize this process.

We have been communicating with the company regarding the Collective Bargaining Process and the Maintenance of Activities Agreement. The parties have not agreed to enter into early bargaining at this time. The committee will continue to develop the bargaining agenda in order to be fully prepared should early bargaining commence. It is quite possible that negotiations will go ahead as planned next year with discussions commencing well in advance of the contract expiry. As far as the Maintenance of Activity Agreement is concerned the Company agreed that after the summer vacation season has subsided it will engage in talks with the Union to try and reach an agreement as it pertains to this matter.
