The CAW bargaining committee reconvened with Jazz Technical Services with the
intention of finding a mutually-agreed solution that will satisfy members who
have been without a contract since June 30, 2012.
Members at Jazz Technical Services rejected a tentative agreement in August,
2012. Recently, the CAW has discussed concerns with the leadership across the
country to ensure members and leadership all understand the contentious issues
involved.
"We have made some improved clarifications on some of the newly bargained
language," said Ron Smith, CAW’s Director of Transportation. "However, we have
not come to an acceptable answer regarding the ten hour shift and overall
monetary compensation."
In order to find an final solution, the Union and Company agreed on all other
issues and will send the remaining issues to mediated arbitration involving
Arbitrator Tom Hodges. This meeting is expedited to be heard within the next two
weeks.
To that end, pending potential changes, it is agreed that schedule and
vacation bids will be deferred until the first week of October.
