BARGAINING UPDATE

We have tallied and posted the results of the Bargaining Resolution and were amazed with the overwhelming call for unity and support for our Union’s efforts to bargain a new Collective Agreement. With 97 percent of members support, it puts us in a good position to achieve our mandate.

This initial show of support and unity combined with the influence of the Conciliation Officer produced a positive atmosphere during the past two Bargaining sessions on July 7th and 8th.

This current round of Bargaining is historic as it is the first time in almost a decade that we have had an opportunity to freely negotiate without any external factors due to the Air Canada CCAA process or restructuring proceedings that were controlled by a third party. We are all frustrated about how difficult the struggle has been due to these factors beyond anyone’s control.

So now more than ever is the time to disregard the attempts of individuals resigned to destroy the solidarity of the membership for their own personal agendas. In doing so it will not allow Management to perceive that there is a division and ultimate weakness that could undermine our strength at the Bargaining Table.

The Bargaining Committee has scheduled a “Road Show” to visit all the Bases in last week of July. This will start off in Halifax on July 27th and conclude in Vancouver July 31st. As the venues are confirmed notices will be posted in the Bases for times and locations of the meetings.

There have been more dates confirmed for the purposes of bargaining in conjunction with the Conciliation Officers schedule. These dates are as follows:

  • August 10 – 11
