Jazz Technical Services: Mandatory retirement

Jazz Technical Services: Mandatory retirement

September 14, 2011 at 5:30 PM

MEMERSHIP UPDATE

Over the past few months key members of the Bargaining Committee, along with the CAW National Union Representative, have been engaged in discussions with Company Representatives regarding mandatory retirement. To date we have had a few Members that were "forcibly retired” and other Members that face the same situation in the very near future.

As of today we have been successful in getting the Company to agree to reinstate 2 (two) Members that were recently forced to retire with negotiated settlement agreements. Furthermore, Members that are facing Mandatory Retirement and who have applied to stay after age 65 (sixty five) are to contact their Local Union Representative immediately if they are denied.

The Union is proceeding to Arbitration with its Policy Grievance that challenges the Employer’s policy regarding mandatory retirement.

In Solidarity,

John Murawesky
Jazz Technical Services
Bargaining Committee Chairperson
