Jazz Technical Services: Membership Update

Jazz Technical Services: Membership Update

March 5, 2010 at 3:10 PM

As you are aware there was a policy grievance filed with regards to the vacation slot calculation on October 30, 2009. The grievance was heard and ultimately denied by Management. As a result, the Union filed the issue to arbitration. The Company elected to have a “full” arbitration process, instead of the expedited bi-monthly review. An arbitrator has been selected and it will be Mr. Michel Picher. Unfortunately the earliest dates that Mr. Picher has available to hear this grievance is in late October, 2010. The Union is still seeking to have this process concluded promptly.

Revenue Canada has informed the Company that it is conducting an internal review of the parking issue after it received the waivers - sent in by employees - during a meeting last week. This review process will take until March 12, 2010 at which point Revenue Canada is supposed to make a final decision. In the meantime employees now have until March 12, 2010 to submit a waiver form. An update as to Revenue Canada’s decision on March 12, 2010 will be posted when it becomes available.

Yesterday a Special Assignment notification was posted in the workplace. This assignment is to support a modification to the CRJ fleet that will be carried out in the heavy maintenance base of London, Ontario. All members are encouraged to apply. For more information please refer to the posting in the workplace or ask your Base Manager or Local Union Officers.
