MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

Over the past several weeks the Bargaining Committee has been negotiating with Management the terms and conditions required to begin maintaining a fleet of Boeing 757 200 series aircraft that will be operated by Jazz on behalf of Thomas Cook. Due to the sensitive nature of this agreement between Jazz and Thomas Cook the Bargaining Committee Representatives have been bound by Non Disclosure Agreements and prohibited from discussing the matter outside of the Committee and specific Management Representatives.

Tuesday March 30 Letters of Understanding between the Union and Jazz were finalized and signed to provide required flexibility and incentive to support the upstart of the Boeing 757 200 Maintenance Program. Detailed information contained in the Letters of Understanding will be initially conveyed to the Membership through impromptu workplace and Base Meetings scheduled by the local Bargaining Representative.

The Letters of Understanding are scheduled to become effective September 15, 2010 to coincide with the first activity outside of the Collective Agreement related to the Boeing 757 200 Maintenance Program described within. At this time the Letters of Understanding will form part of the Collective Agreement for the duration of the Collective Agreement as outlined in the letters. However in accordance with the Collective Agreement Boeing 757 200 type endorsement training courses for Jazz Tech Members are tentatively scheduled to begin in July 2010 in preparation for the planned operation of these aircraft slated to begin in November 2010.

Although many details including operating schedules and an exact total number of aircraft to be operated have yet to be finalized between Jazz and Thomas Cook, the affects on the Bargaining Unit Membership arising from Jazz trying to diversify its business interests through this venture should be positive.
