It was recently brought to the Unions attention
that the Company had engaged in the practice of not allowing employees to accrue
"Sick Credits" while on leave. The particular example was in fact employees on
"Short-Term Disability".
After a brief discussion with Labor Relations it
was recognized that the Company had misinterpreted an article in the Jazz
Technical Services Collective Agreement. The Union was told that the Company
would make all necessary corrections and that all parties involved on the
Company’s behalf would be notified of the correct procedure regarding this
matter.
The Union would encourage any employee who has
recently returned from any "Leave" as defined by the Collective Agreement to
verify and make sure they have accrued the appropriate "Sick Credits". Anyone
alleging they have not received the correct "Sick Credits" is to notify their
Local Bargaining Representative for follow up.
