UMHQ: Notice to all Jazz Tech Bargaining Members

UMHQ: Notice to all Jazz Tech Bargaining Members

November 30, 2007 at 12:00 AM

The purpose of this bulletin is to replace the regularly published minutes from the scheduled UMHQ meeting that should have occurred November 28 & 29, 2007. Prior to this UMHQ meeting, an incident occurred that involved one of the Union’s Elected Officers. This incident gave way to the CAW Local and National Union’s concern that the Company was impeding the Union’s ability to represent its membership through its officers. As a result, the latest Sub-Regional and UMHQ meetings were overshadowed by this dispute.

The Bargaining Committee entered the UMHQ meeting with this topic as a priority and was unable to go forward with any issues until the Union’s concern was addressed and ultimately resolved fully to the Union’s satisfaction. Due to the negative climate generated with regards to this subject matter, the Bargaining Committee and Company agreed that the UMHQ agenda could not be addressed until a resolve had been reached between both parties.

It became apparent that the individuals present for the Company could not resolve the Union’s major concern. Therefore the Bargaining Committee agreed to a scheduled meeting with the Senior Management Team and not to entertain any of the Company’s UMHQ agenda items. The Company however, has committed to respond in writing to the Unions prioritized list of agenda items, and the UMHQ meeting was adjourned.

We remain confident that we can report that we have normalized relations very soon.
