Every year, on the first Monday in September, workers across Canada gather and celebrate Labour Day. We must remember the struggles of the past and celebrate all that has been achieved by workers – for workers.

This is an important day for all of us, it provides an opportunity to reflect on our experiences as workers and union members. This weekend, as we march and celebrate our union pride, let us recognize the historical importance of Labour Day as a celebration for all workers.

As we recognize the many gains that have been made for workers over the years, I ask that you pause for a moment to reflect on the struggles of the labour movement and the work that is needed to achieve equality and social justice for all.

I would like to thank our Unifor Local 2002 activists, leaders, and workplace representatives, who work tirelessly on behalf of our members every day improving their working conditions.

I invite all members to participate in this year’s Labour Day activities alongside your sisters and brothers across Canada.

Wishing all of our Unifor Local 2002 members across Canada a safe Labour Day weekend.

In solidarity,
Euila Leonard
President of Unifor Local 2002
