Local 2002: National Indigenous Day - June 19

June 16, 2023 at 9:12 AM

National Indigenous Day will be celebrated on June 19. In honour of this important occasion, we have arranged for an elder to visit and share their knowledge and insights about Indigenous culture.  Ms. Elizabeth Penashue who is an Innu will join us via Zoom communications along with her daughter Kanani Davis on June 19, at 1900 EST.  (Local 2002 Members have been sent an email with the Zoom meeting details).

The presence of Ms. Penashue will provide us with a valuable opportunity to learn more about the rich heritage, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous communities across Canada. The wisdom and perspective will help foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for Indigenous cultures and histories.

We encourage all Local 2002 members to attend, by engaging with the elders and actively participating in the activities planned, we can further promote cultural diversity and inclusion within our union.   Please mark your calendars for this significant event on June 19. We look forward to your presence and participation in celebrating National Indigenous Day.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the BIWOC Committee.  Let us come together to embrace the vibrant Indigenous cultures that contribute to the fabric of our society.
