Human Rights Coordinator required for Unifor Local 2002

Local 2002 has a position for a full-time Human Rights Coordinator. The duties and responsibilities are as follows:
  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participate in Political Action for Human Rights

  • Monitor compliance with all legal requirements on behalf of the Local

  • Investigate, initiate or any other action required in any potential workplace harassment complaints on behalf of the Local

  • Provide written reports of investigations

  • Meet with all units' employers with an aim of establishing a consistent and effective workplace harassment policy in consultation with the Local

  • Work with employer to provide outcome of investigations

  • Promote Unifor policies in the area of human rights

  • Research and publish articles about specific human rights issues and legislation

  • Assist with the development and delivery of related training programs on behalf of the Local

  • Must be active in the community and trade union movement in the area of human rights

  • Liaise with the Communications Coordinator in the production of newsletters, electronic messaging and other information

  • Provide quarter written report to Local 2002 Executive Board

  • Assist with the development and delivery of related training programs on behalf of the Local

  • Establish liaison with appropriate government offices and agencies on behalf of the Local

  • Any other responsibilities as directed by the President

  • Note: this position involves travel and participating in training sessions
      

Any member in good standing covered by the Air Canada Customer Sales Agent collective agreement is eligible to apply.
