First Air: Conciliation begins

First Air: Conciliation begins

July 25, 2012 at 5:00 PM

After more than a month after talks broke down between CAW and First Air, a federal conciliator has been appointed to mediate the process in efforts to reach a fair deal. The current collective agreement expired on May 7, 2012.

"We have been willing to continue negotiations even through this lengthy waiting period," said CAW Local 2002 President Jamie Ross. "We hope that the appointment of a conciliator will put discussions back on a constructive track."

The conciliator has finalized some potential meeting dates and is looking at locations to continue talks. Both the CAW and First Air will meet under the direction of the conciliator on August 28 in hopes of finding some common ground towards reaching a fair deal.

We will continue to update the membership as this process unfolds.
