The employer has indicated they are ready to resume
negotiations on August 12, 13, 14, 2013. We will make arrangements and advise
the membership if additional dates are required to conclude bargaining.
As indicated in previous bulletins, the outstanding
items to resolve are monetary items: benefits, wages, shift premiums, overtime,
vacation credits, sick credits etc. In addition, "contracting out" and
"bargaining work" language is another critical item that will be discussed. The
CAW is serious when it comes to this issue; if we can do the work then why
shouldn't we?
If all goes well during these three days of
negotiations then a ratification vote will follow shortly thereafter. Members
will vote once on the tentative agreement.
Your GTAA bargaining committee will continue to
keep you informed of any further developments. Once again, please do not
hesitate to contact a committee member if you require any further clarification
on these or any other issues.
In solidarity,
