GTAA policy issues: membership feedback requested

GTAA policy issues: membership feedback requested

June 28, 2010 at 7:00 PM

The GTAA has recently performed a company audit with respect to scheduling, vacation, overtime and shift trades. Results of this audit have revealed varying inconsistencies from department to department in the way these items are practiced and/or applied. The GTAA recently met with the CAW to share their findings and are attempting to come up with standardized company-wide policies for dealing with these matters.

One item we currently require membership input on is for shift exchanges. Some departments allow unlimited exchanges, some limit them, and some do not use exchanges at all. If applicable, we would like to hear from you. How often do you use shift exchanges? How often do you request them? How often are you denied them? What do you use them for (i.e. extending vacation, child care issues, appointments, etc?) Do you belong to a department that does not use them at all and would like to have that opportunity?

While the Union realizes the importance of adopting standardized procedures, they must be fair, consistent and should not disadvantage any of our members. The more information you provide us, the better we can advocate for you.

Please contact us at: [email protected] or visit us in the Union office in Terminal 1 (Room EBS090).
