On January 18, 2019, Ramp members from Porter Airlines- District 361, gave their Bargaining Committee an overwhelming mandate in favour of strike action. Of those in attendance, 94 percent voted in favour of a strike.
“We are proud of our members and the certainty of this strike mandate”, said Euila Leonard, President of Local 2002. “With the collective voice of our membership, we are confident that we can bargain a fair collective agreement for the members of District 361”.
Members are reminded that a successful strike vote does not mean that we are on strike rather, you have permitted your Bargaining Committee to call a strike should no further progress be made at the negotiation table.
The main issues affecting our members are wages and benefits. We will return to the bargaining table with the Company on
January 31 – February 1st, 2019.
Unifor Local represents more than 75 members at Porter Airlines who are employed as Ramp Attendants.
The Bargaining Committee would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to the members who participated in the strike vote.
