Negotiations between Unifor Local 2002 and Air Canada Mainline continue. We have presented additional monetary items for consideration and the company will be taking the next week to review and respond to these submissions. There have been many committees to review specific proposals, many lively discussions and many presentations.
We will be resuming bargaining on May 4th.
We recognize that many of our members have not been through this process and are not familiar that bargaining is generally conducted behind closed doors. We understand the desire for information, and we want to remind everyone that our bargaining priorities were built directly from member input.
We held 52 in-person proposal meetings across the country, as well as three virtual meetings in preparation for negotiations with the employer. Every member was eligible to attend any meeting of their choice. At these meetings, we re-capped the survey results and discussed the potential agenda items. It is these items – discussed at every proposal meeting – that we are advancing with the company. We made it clear that after exchanging proposals, we would keep specific details private to maintain our bargaining strategy and the integrity of the bargaining process.
We all thank you for your continued support. The strength and unity you have shown sends a clear message to the employer that our members stand together – and that unity is our greatest asset at the bargaining table.
We will continue to keep you informed every step of the way with future bargaining updates issued from unifor2002.org as well from Unifor Local 2002 e-news messaging. If you have not already subscribed to e-news, please do so via the link below.
