Dear Caroline:

In light of the fact that our recent attempts at early bargaining were not successful, we are contacting you to set up a meeting as quickly as possible to deal with our members’ concerns about Aeroplan. We note that you have sent a letter to CAW members giving them a deadline of March 2, 2009 for choosing their work location.

As yet, Aeroplan has no status as an independent employer, no certificate upon which to bargain with respect to an independent Aeroplan bargaining unit, no authority to deal with Aeroplan employees individually in the context of a purported Aeroplan bargaining unit and it is also yet unknown as to the jurisdiction of labour relations laws under which Aeroplan will conduct its labour relations.

I trust we will be able to meet within the next few days to discuss the concerns that our members are raising about the future operation of Aeroplan.

Sincerely,

Leslie Dias
