Aeroplan employees put heart back into Aeroplan call centres

May 13, 2013 at 11:30 AM

The first Women’s Advocate Fundraiser held on May 9, 2013 in the Montreal and Vancouver call centres was an incredible success.

T-shirts, specially printed for the event, sold out within hours, with all funds benefiting women’s shelters in each community. The event generated healthy conversations between members, management and community allies about the positive role unions can have at work and in the community, while highlighting the importance of fostering a psychologically healthy, engaged workforce.

Encouraged by the success of their first outreach event, CAW 2002 Aeroplan members have vowed to continue this campaign to benefit their communities throughout the weeks ahead.

"Our members in Aeroplan have demonstrated that belonging to a union means much more than a collective agreement," says Local 2002 President Jamie Ross. "Solidarity and community go beyond the punch clock."

Local 2002 designated EAP specialist Aroon Shah will be visiting both work locations: Vancouver on May 16 and 17 from 10:00-18:00 and Montreal on May 23 and 24 from 10:00 to 18:00. Members are encouraged to meet with Aroon on their breaks to discuss their concerns. A report based on employees' input will be compiled and forwarded to Local 2002 President Jamie Ross.
