Local 2002 is pleased to announce that the new women’s advocates for Aeroplan have been selected: Vancouver’s Erin Draper and Montreal’s Carmelle Senosier will bring welcome support to the members of Local 2002 as required.

Erin Draper has worked for Aeroplan for 17 years and has been a union representative in the Vancouver call centre since October 2011. A mother and full time employee, Erin understands juggling work and family life. She enjoys embracing new skills and has taken many training courses such as grievance handling, building activism in the workplace and women’s activism.

Carmelle Senosier is a union activist and has worked at the Aeroplan Montreal call centre since December 2006.  Resourceful and proactive, Carmelle has worked as a volunteer for many organisations such as Excel Minority Youth Group, Doctors Without Borders, Info Crime and the Foyer de Chateauguay.

The women’s advocate provides referrals on issues such as sexual assault, domestic violence, anger management, suicide prevention, depression, pregnancy, separation and divorce, and stress. The role of the women’s advocate is to listen and support, to provide information, to refer women to appropriate resources and to follow up in a confidential manner.

Erin and Carmelle will attend a women’s advocate training course at the CAW Family Education Centre in Port Elgin, Ontario on April 14-19, 2013.
