The Unifor Local 2002 Executive Board is pleased to announce that Astrid Metzler from District 205 has been selected as Group Insurance Disability Income Plan (GIDIP) Trustee for the Western Region. The term of office for this position will be from May 1, 2019 to May 1, 2022 and subject to a yearly review.
The Executive Board would like to thank Jeremy Rabbitte who is retiring from Air Canada and the position of Western Region GIDIP Trustee. Throughout his multiple terms as a Trustee, Jeremy was dedicated and passionate about his responsibilities to the membership, and skillfully carried out his duties as a member of the GIDIP Board of Trustees.
The Unifor 2002 Health and Welfare Trust is a trustee plan that is operated at arm’s length from the Local Union and is overseen by Trustees appointed by the Unifor 2002 Executive Board. Each GIDIP Trustee is appointed for a three-year term, however these terms are staggered among the Regions. The purpose for staggering terms is so that we do not lose the skill set, experience, and training of the Trustees in the same year.
The Trust covers members within Air Canada mainline, Aeroplan and CLS Catering.
