A tentative settlement has been reached between the CAW and Air Canada for a collective agreement covering 75 in-flight crew schedulers. The tentative settlement was reached yesterday evening and comes just weeks after union members voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action, if necessary.
CAW President Ken Lewenza said he is pleased with the deal that will be presented to the members for ratification.
"This was a tough round of negotiations that took place during one of the most challenging periods for collective bargaining in years," Lewenza said.
"Our negotiating committee worked incredibly hard to bargain a settlement that they will take to the members for ratification. Unlike our previous experience with Air Canada, this settlement was reached without interference by the federal government."
Contract details will not be released until after union members have ratified the agreement. Ratification will take place next week, with results expected to be released on Wednesday February 15.
The 75 crew schedulers are based in Montreal, Quebec and are represented by CAW Local 2002.
