Gaetano Amodeo is Appointed to Pension Communications Representative for Air Canada

March 10, 2021 at 2:46 PM
Unifor Local 2002 Executive Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Gaetano Amodeo as the new Pension Communications Representative for Air Canada.  As of January 2021, all four Air Canada bargaining units (Aeroplan, Air Canada CSSAs, Air Canada In-flight Crew Schedulers, and Air Canada Flight Operations) are under one Pension Plan.

Gaetano will work alongside the other two Pension Communication representatives – Marilyne Boettger and Joanne Goulet.   For more details, please click here for the Unifor Local 2002 Pensions Communications Committee page.

Gaetano brings his experience and a proven track record of success in the area of pension reforms to this new role. In 2006, as a member of the Flight Ops Bargaining Committee, he was instrumental in bargaining a (70,000) Pension Cap into the first Air Canada Flight Ops Collective Agreement.  He currently works as a Flights Operations Crew Scheduler for Air Canada, in Montreal.  He has been the District Chairperson for his District 413 (Montreal and Toronto) since 2009 and a Bargaining Representative since 2006.

In his new role, his primary responsibilities will be to promote awareness and understanding of the Pension Plan among the Air Canada Unifor Local 2002 members. He will be accountable to deliver an annual review of the financial, actuarial, and administrative aspects of the Pension Plan; and will perform other administrative duties as required by the applicable Pension legislation. He will also provide support and counsel to the Bargaining Committees of all the Air Canada units.

I would like to acknowledge and thank the previous Pension Representatives for their years of service to our members; Stephen Lussier, Jeanette Manuel, and Robert Stroppetti.

Unifor Local 2002 pledges our support to Gaetano in his new role. We are confident he will be a strong asset to our Local and the membership. Please join me in welcoming Gaetano and wishing him every success.

In solidarity,
Don Ross
Interim – Unifor Local 2002 President
