Earlier this week, Unifor opened contract talks
with Air Canada In-Flight Crew Scheduling in Montreal. Discussions took place
over the course of one single day where Unifor and Air Canada officials
exchanged non-monetary proposals and also reviewed agendas for additional dates
to continue talks.
During the coming weeks, the Unifor bargaining
committee will be working diligently to review Air Canada’s proposals and
fine-tune their own strategies as they prepare for additional meeting dates with
the company. As the bargaining process unfolds, the committee will continue to
keep you updated. However, in order to protect the integrity of the
negotiations, the committee will not be able to discuss specific details with
the membership while in collective bargaining. This is common practice.
"Your bargaining committee is ready to negotiate a
new collective agreement that is fair and equitable for all members," said
Cheryl Robinson, President of Unifor local 2002. "You have been an integral part
of Air Canada’s success and deserve a contract that reflects the company’s
ongoing triumphs."
Unifor local 2002 represents approximately ninety
members at Air Canada In-Flight Crew Scheduling in Montreal and Toronto. Members
are responsible for numerous job functions such as maintaining statistics,
updating computer systems, arranging and recording crew movements and monitoring
crew movements and other duties.
The last collective agreement expired in May, 2015.
Additional bargaining dates between Unifor and Air
Canada have been set for October.
