CLS members vote overwhelmingly in favour of strike action

CLS members vote overwhelmingly in favour of strike action

May 14, 2014 at 5:09 PM

The Local 2002 CLS bargaining committee hosted packed membership meetings at the Vancouver airport Delta Hotel on May 13, 2014. The committee had pledged to seek the membership’s direction after weeks of negotiations with the company had come to a stalemate.

A strike vote was taken and the ballots counted and the committee is pleased to report that the membership have voted 98.4% in favour of strike action if necessary, in order to protect their jobs, their collective gains and their future!

There is no doubt that these strong results show that CLS members support their elected bargaining committee in their quest for a progressive collective agreement.

Unifor would like to extend sincere appreciation and thanks to the members from CLS Catering who came out to vote. Your collective confidence and determination for fairness is an inspiration in the ongoing fight for fairness and good jobs.

This strong strike mandate enables the committee to continue to work hard to obtain a fair collective agreement that meets the needs of the membership. We are returning to the bargaining table on June 12-13, 2014 and will continue to keep you informed.

A fair and equitable agreement represents a tripod of stability for 350 members of CLS Catering in Vancouver who are proud members of Unifor, their company and the community.

In solidarity,

Your CLS Bargaining Committee:
