Unifor ratifies first Collective Agreement with Canadian North’s AME group

Unifor Local 2002 is pleased to announce that Canadian North’s AME group has ratified their first Unifor collective agreement by 78 per cent.

The following are partial highlights of the tentative agreement concluded on March 31, 2017:

  • Wage increases for 2017 and 2018 (agreement expires on February 1, 2019)

  • Severance language well in excess of the Canada Labour Code

  • Strong contracting out language

  • Benefit contribution/increases

  • Reduction to number of pay grids between classifications

  • Per diems, off base

  • Defined grievance/arbitration process

  • Bereavement leave

  • Enhanced vacation carry over

  • Layoff/recall rights, etc.

  

"Everyone here at Unifor is extremely proud of hard work accomplished by our bargaining committee," said Unifor 2002 President Cheryl Robinson. "Their perseverance and understanding of contract language and concepts allowed them to obtain this first Collective Agreement. I would also like to congratulate the new Canadian North membership for actively participating in the negotiations process. This agreement would not have been possible without the involvement of those at the bargaining table and in the workplace. Congratulations!"

The term of the agreement is valid from April 21, 2017 to January 31, 2019.
