Canadian North Members: Update for March 11, 2021

March 11, 2021 at 4:02 PM
There has been a lot of discussion and comments from the membership regarding the lack of workplace union representation, for the positions of District Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Health and Safety Representatives. Since the merger between the two airlines, Unifor has been working on providing the membership with union representation in your workplaces.  That said,  we will be scheduling elections for these positions in your workplaces in the coming weeks.

Members will be notified via Company email on the writs of elections. The writs of elections will contain important information on the roles and responsibilities of these positions.

Get Involved
We are urging the members of the Canadian North to get involved in their union.  I ask that you take a look around in your workplace and nominate a colleague that you think would be an objective, honest and reliable union representative.  Talk to them and ask them “can I nominate you and would you accept the nomination for the position of District Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson or Health & Safety Representative”? The voice of many is much stronger than the voice of one. Working with co-workers as members of a union creates a much stronger presence when negotiating with management.

As a final request from Unifor, the Company has allowed the distribution of this information (writs of election) to be distributed via Company email.  In the future, to receive regular updates from Unifor Local 2002, we ask all members to subscribe to our e-news.
