EVAS AIR Members: Bargaining Update for June 6th, 2024

EVAS AIR Members: Bargaining Update for June 6th, 2024

June 6, 2024 at 11:08 AM

The parties met in person in Gander, Newfoundland, over the course of two long days on June 4 and June 5 to continue negotiations. Although some progress was made concerning non-monetary items, the parties remain too far apart on monetary issues.

Your Bargaining Committee has heard the membership loud and clear and understands the demands that need to be met by the Employer. The goal is always to bring a freely negotiated tentative agreement back to the membership for a ratification vote.

To assist your Committee in achieving this, Unifor intends to file a notice of dispute with the Minister of Labour. With the filing of this notice, the Minister will have 15 days to appoint a conciliator from Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS). Once the Minister has appointed a conciliator, the conciliation period begins and continues for 60 days. During this period, the intention of the Union, with the assistance of the conciliator, is for the parties to convene to continue with the bargaining process.

Once we have further information on additional dates to meet, we will be sure to inform the membership of these details.

The membership’s continued solidarity and support throughout this process is greatly appreciated. It is imperative to support the Bargaining Committee in reaching a fair and equitable deal that reflects the important and hard work that you, the membership, do daily.

In Solidarity,
Jason George – Bargaining Committee Member/District Chairperson
Denise Cochrane – Assistant to the Local 2002 President
Adam Hersey – Unifor National Staff Representative
