GTAA Bargaining Committee Holds first in-person meetings since the pandemic began

May 31, 2022 at 5:00 PM

Today, the GTAA Bargaining Committee came together to host in-person membership meetings for the first time since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic (March 2020).  GTAA members were equally excited about the opportunity to meet in person.  The members in attendance had a full agenda that included reports from each of the Bargaining Representatives, discussions of outstanding grievances, and other issues that our members are facing in the workplace. The Committee took questions and heard concerns from its membership.

Rick Pucilowski- District Chairperson, for the many of the members in attendance, their top priority was staffing issues at the GTAA, contracting out of union work to consultants and contractors, layoffs, members on recall, and the importance of mental health support for the membership.

Antonios Kourterdis - Unifor Local 2002/ Vice President, gave an overview of the current issues facing Pearson International Airport. With the busy summer travel season approaching, he stated immediate actions need to be taken to reduce long line-ups and extended wait times at Pearson International Airport. In addition, he affirmed that we need to take action and called on the federal government to remove COVID-19 processes at the airport. Antonios spoke about the Political Action strategy for the upcoming Ontario Election Campaign and the importance for every member to vote on June 2, 2022.

Agenda Highlights:
  • Introduction of the new GTAA Women’s Advocate – Desiree Andrade
  • Update on outstanding Grievances
