On June 13, 2016, The Unifor Bargaining Committee met with the employer to begin negotiations. This is the first time both parties have met since bargaining opened and proposals were exchanged on May 3, 2016.
Over the past two weeks the bargaining committee has spent considerable time reviewing the employer’s proposals in detail and several non- monetary items were discussed. The committee is confident that the message received from the membership – through surveys and proposal meetings – has been made clear to the GTAA. Your participation in this very important part of the bargaining process has been instrumental. We believe the negotiations are progressing positively.
Unifor will meet with the GTAA again beginning today to complete discussions on non- monetary proposals and we are eager to exchange monetary proposals.
As this is still considered the early stages of bargaining, there is very little to report. Our commitment to you is to be as transparent as possible throughout the bargaining process, without jeopardizing the integrity of our negotiations.
