GTAA Members have a new four-year agreement

June 27, 2019 at 9:15 PM

Unifor Local 2002 is pleased to announce that members at The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) have voted in favour of ratifying a new agreement. Following ratification meetings held on June 24, 25, and 27, 2019, an overwhelming number of GTAA members attended and 90 per cent voted in favour of the tentative agreement.

The agreement provides wage increases over the life of the agreement and a new defined benefit pension plan. The agreement will go into effect on August 1st, 2019, and will expire on July 31, 2023.

Message from the President of Unifor Local 2002: Euila Leonard

"The Bargaining Committee is to be commended for their determination in negotiating a progressive agreement that addresses members' interests and priorities. From the onset, the clear priority for the membership was that we negotiate a defined benefit pension plan. The parties have delivered on that priority and members will now have a pension plan that guarantees income into their retirement," said Euila Leonard - President of Unifor Local 2002. "This is a remarkable achievement for the labour movement and for our Local, as defined benefit pension plans have been disappearing from the private sector for the past several years."

"This agreement solidifies that our members will continue to be a vital part of the GTAA's strategic vision - to be the best mega-hub airport in the world. I congratulate all parties for their hard work and determination in reaching this agreement. I would like to thank our GTAA members for their support and for placing their confidence in the Bargaining Committee and in our Union."
