Unifor Local 2002 and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) to open Negotiations on May 1st,

April 11, 2023 at 12:15 PM

Bargaining Proposal meetings were recently held from April 4 to 6, 2023, to present and discuss the bargaining survey results. Members were given a presentation of the survey results, along with the top ten bargaining priorities submitted by the members. The Bargaining Committee clarified contractual priorities and garnered any additional proposals or recommendations put forward by the members who attended these meetings.

THE BARGAINING COMMITTEE MEETS TO STRATEGIZE – FROM APRIL 11 TO 13
The Bargaining Committee will be meeting at Unifor Local 2002 headquarters in Toronto from April 11 to 13, to analyze the language of the current collective agreement in order to determine any other issues that may need to be modified.

The culmination of these steps: Information sessions, bargaining surveys, Proposal meetings, top ten priorities, and language examination will devise the Bargaining Committee’s mandate, which determines the proposals that the Union will submit to the Company.

BARGAINING OFFICIALLY OPENS WITH THE GTAA – ON MAY 1ST, 2023.
The Union and the GTAA will officially meet to open negotiations on May 1st, 2023, and will exchange proposals.  Further dates have been scheduled for both parties to meet in mid-May.

DON’T LISTEN TO THE RUMOR MILL
Should you hear rumours about negotiations, do not spread the FIRE PUT IT OUT! Consider the source of the fire and most importantly check with a Bargaining Committee representative to get the FACTS, just the FACTS. We must remain as a collective force and stay focused on the issues and the bargaining priorities, because the stronger we are going into negotiations, the stronger the Committee is at the table.

The Bargaining Committee will keep members updated on any developments via enews - GTAA Connects, Unifor Local 2002 website, and the GTAA District 333 website at  local2002.com

It is important to note, that to protect the integrity of the negotiations process, the Committee cannot discuss specific details with the membership while in talks with the Company.

In Solidarity,
