GardaWorld: Update from the bargaining table

GardaWorld: Update from the bargaining table

October 28, 2022 at 10:00 AM

Your Unifor bargaining committee continued discussions with the employer this week in Calgary. Bargaining to date has been productive, yielding constructive language for a new collective agreement.

Talks concluded this week but will resume in November, and most likely push into 2023.

As expected, with the transition of the new Union, the Bargaining Committee are focused on making changes that will enhance the Collective Agreement and we are seeing progress. The Unifor bargaining team has come to the table equipped and ready to make gains for our members working at Calgary International Airport.

GardaWorld members, part of the Pre-Boarding Screening Officer group, are responsible for providing travelers with a safe and positive travel experience, as well as ensuring that all baggage complies with Canadian Air Transport Security Authority rules.

"The main goal of this bargaining team is to make improvements to existing workplace conditions and wages," said Tammy Moore, Unifor Local 2002 President. "The team is also looking to the future; securing members' financial security, and looking for development opportunities and advancement for part-time and full-time positions."

As active bargaining continues, membership unity and solidarity are vital to Unifor's success. Strength at the table depends on your involvement. Stay informed and direct any questions you may have to your bargaining representatives.
