As you are aware there have been ongoing talks
between the CAW and Jazz Labour Relations regarding an extended charter
opportunity. Both parties have put a great deal of time and effort into this
task in order to secure a Letter of Understanding to cover the employees awarded
the assignment. That Letter of Understanding has now been signed.
The Company had expected that the Extended
Charter Operation would commence in June, 2008. There was even some degree of
expectation that it could begin as early as May, 2008. It is now apparent that
both of these start up “Targets” have been missed.
The CAW met with Jazz Labour Relations last week
to receive an update pertaining to the status of the Extended Charter Operation.
It was explained to the CAW that the Caribbean operator that Jazz is negotiating
with is currently encountering some issues getting final approval for the
operation. These delays are viewed as nothing more than normal circumstances
that would be encountered during such a process.
Jazz Labour Relations will continue to provide
the CAW with any information as it becomes available.
