Bargaining for Jazz CSA/ACS progressing

Bargaining for Jazz CSA/ACS progressing

December 3, 2012 at 4:00 PM

Jazz CSA/ACS bargaining reconvened for the second round of negotiations on November 27-29, 2012 and has made progress on a number of issues. The collective agreement for approximately 1200 Jazz customer and aircraft service agents expires in January 2013.

Although there are still a number of non-monetary issues outstanding, several items submitted by the bargaining committee were agreed to by the company. Any proposals of a monetary nature were tabled for future discussion.

The company presented information on the current and future status of Jazz:

  • With fifteen additional jets in its fleet in the new year, competitor Sky Regional will be expanding into the US market

  • A rate reset with regards to the capacity purchase agreement was brought to the table with a tentative timeline of 2015

  • Jazz will install eight Q400’s to operate out of the western region by the summer of 2013

"Jazz remains a profitable leader in the airline industry," commented CAW National Representative Joel Fournier. "And the committee is confident that this will be reflected in positive negotiations."

Bargaining will resume on December 11-13, 2012. It is the committee’s goal to keep the membership informed as further information becomes available. Look for the next bargaining update on December 14.

The five grievances that were to be heard through arbitration on December 3 had to be cancelled by the arbitrator due to medical reasons. We will advise you when the date is rescheduled.

Communication is a two-way process and we would like to hear from you. Please contact your bargaining representative with any questions or concerns.

"Our commitment to you is to be as transparent as possible throughout the bargaining process (without jeopardizing the integrity of our negotiations) and to consistently deliver clear, concise information to your local leadership and on our website.
